What is flat rock scorpion?

The flat rock scorpion (Hadogenes troglodytes) is a species of scorpion native to southern Africa. They are known for their flattened body shape, which helps them fit into tight rock crevices and burrows where they live.

Flat rock scorpions are typically a dark brown or black color and can grow to be around 4-6 inches in length. They have large pincers and a long, thin tail with a venomous stinger at the end.

These scorpions are nocturnal and primarily feed on insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates. They are solitary creatures and will only come together during mating season.

Like other scorpions, the flat rock scorpion is capable of delivering a painful sting, but its venom is not considered to be dangerous to humans unless an individual has an allergic reaction. They are typically shy and will only sting if provoked or threatened.
